Katoki Hajime went and released his reimaging of this one and DAYUM. Look at those calves!
I am a sucker for thrusters and vents and cooling intakes, so I instantly fell in love with those calf intakes.
This piece was a real challenge for me. I am still getting used to the 'soft' style of building tone with the ballpoint pen, which is ok when a gundam is boxy and cubey. But this one is smooth and all curves like some corvette, aie!
The biggest doozey was shading those fuel tanks, I had to concentrate sooooo much for those to build ink layers yet keep them looking round.
Fun moment: Drawing the reflections on the centre chest cockpit hatch, and the side of the leg on the right. I love reflections!
